Event HQ – Mission Bay

EVENT HQ

Selwyn Reserve

Selwyn Reserve is the name given to the huge grassed area between the Mission Bay shops and the beach. As befitting an event the size of the Waterfront Half Marathon, there is a lot to fit and we make full use of this substantial reserve. Selwyn Reserve has two public toilet blocks in addition to the many event portaloos, so amenities are very good. You'll also find changing rooms in the toilet blocks and showers outside.

Most  normal people (non-runners we mean!) come to Mission Bay for one of two things; the beach and the cafes. Participants are encouraged to make full use of both on race day and a post-race dip in the harbour is the ideal way to cool off after you finish. In addition to food and drink options available from vendors within the venue, there are lots of food and drink options right across the road from race HQ. The Mission Bay Cafe is a favourite place for family members to watch the action from.

Venue Map

The reserve and finish venue are substantial, so it helps to orient yourself prior to race day so you have a good idea where you are heading. The reserve is dominated by the superb Mission Bay fountain and this is a great landmark for organising the race site and amenities.

The eastern (St Heliers) side of the venue is dominated by the finish chute and finish line. You'll also find the refuelling station, medical tents and Race Crew/PA tents in this area. On the western (city) side of the fountain, you'll find the Race Pack Pickup tents, Gear Drop, Grand Slam Medal Collection tents as well as the main stage. The open area on this side of the fountain also plays host to the race warm-ups and the Awards Ceremony.
