The all-new ASICS Waterfront Half Marathon – set to run into the Downtown Auckland for the first time – has closed registrations at midnight last night with a 6,000 participant record field.
The 2025 event – which featured a double out-and-back route between St Heliers and Mechanics Bay – was itself a record with over 4200 sign ups. However the 2026 event has eclipsed that total and gone on to record a near-50% increase.
“It’s a massive validation of everything we’ve done in creating this special event,” Race Director Rob Docherty said. “But it also shows the impact of adding ASICS as our title partner and taking the event right into the heart of the city for the first time. Those two factors have taken the Waterfront Half Marathon to the next level and we look forward to delivering an amazing event experience to our participants.”
Unfortunately, there is no waitlist nor any other way to obtain tickets for 2026, so those who missed out will need to put a note in their diary to get in quick which tickets go on sale for the 2027 event in the spring of 2026.
